Video footage claiming to have been filmed at The Royal London Hospital and depicting body bags supposedly containing victims of Covid-19 flooding the hallways has been shared across social media platforms. The same footage has also been used to purportedly show the interiors of other hospitals, including in New York, Madrid and Barcelona.

This is false. The video was taken in a hospital in Ecuador, El Hospital General del Norte de Guayaquil IESS Ceibos, who have issued an official statement confirming this. Ecuador has had 55,255 confirmed coronavirus cases and 4,429 fatalities which is the third highest number in South America. Guayaquil, the city in which the hospital is based, has emerged as a regional hotspot for COVID-19 cases.
