Claim:

The Kpolom online self-test tells you if you have COVID-19.

Answer:

Misleading. The app has no official public health endorsements.

FURTHER INFORMATION

This is misleading, as Kpolom is a financial services app. Its COVID-19 self-test does not appear to have any endorsements from recognised medical bodies, national or international.

In the UK, the NHS says that if you have either

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature);
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual); or
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste,

you should stay at home (self-isolate) and get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible. You can apply for a test here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/ask-for-a-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/
